I've seen a lot of good films, but most of them do not compare with the "Green Mile". Without exaggeration, I can say that this is a truly amazing and exceptional cinema with incredible energy, and exciting imagination with a unique storyline. And even an explanation on why he is so good would be superfluous. However, I still express my personal opinion.

The film caused a flurry of enthusiasm, shock and universal approval is very well deserved. He is called a masterpiece. And it would be criminal to disagree with this. He enters into a state of trance and sadness, and in the end leaves an unforgettable aftertaste. In this case, despite the apparent gloom, it penetrates into the soul and makes even the strongest person become for a moment weak. That's what a movie with a special touch means.

The "green mile" is difficult to classify in any particular genre. A real fairy tale? Mystical drama? The film captures any viewer, whether as a fan of melodramas, comedies or horror.

The tape is based on the memories of the former jailer from the execution team for execution of death sentences. These memories describe the events of 1935, when a special prisoner entered the prison. The whole film is, in fact, the last days of those condemned to the death penalty, filled with emotions and agonies of conscience. However, there are those who do not regret what they did. In the film, the horror clearly shows how unfair our world is. The most diverse aspects of the human nature are demonstrated: from sublimity and self-sacrifice to cowardice and meanness. Unlimited kindness and terrible cruelty exist side by side. The virtue that meets us in life is often questioned, blamed and destroyed. And only a few are ready to accept and believe in it.

People can not adequately assess events and unerringly understand situations. As it is said in the first part of the film "The Lord of the Rings": not all living people are worthy of life, and not all the dead deserve to die. If you can not raise the innocently murdered, do not hurry to condemn to death. People themselves organize the hierarchy of relationships, based only on their views. And it is far from the fact that the opinion of the majority is something true and undeniable. Just like the opinion of one person is not always the only true one. I think this is the whole complexity of human relations.

First of all, it is worth noting now the late Michael Clark Duncan. It is he who is the core of this film. About Tom Hanks - no comment. Great actor. Trying to imagine myself in the place of Paul Edgecomb, I do not know what I would do, what I felt ... How can this be transferred? A lump to his throat comes from pity and sympathy. Tom impressed with his game and bewitched the sincerity of his hero.

In the role of Brutus, I also can hardly imagine anyone other than David Morse. Deeply developed image, showing that even in such a place there are clean, bright people, despite the frank horror with which they have to face on duty.

I did not watch the film more than once. And every single viewing, feeling like the first time. Emotions sweep, zashkalivayut, explode inside you, overwhelmed with the head. King is still not only the king of horrors, but also the king in the knowledge of the debris of human nature. In the "Green Mile," he revealed many psychological aspects, some of which go to shivers. Many thanks to him for giving the world an unconditional literary masterpiece, a book for ages.

Regarding the direction, I note that it is brilliant. Rarely you meet a successful adaptation of the book, what can we say about the genius. Darabont is a master of his craft. The script is presented so flawlessly that it shakes and turns everything inside.

And although the film is difficult to watch to the end because of the impressive timing, do not be lazy and do it. Otherwise you will lose much. 3 hours of inexpressible pleasure fly by unnoticed, as in one breath. In some places, the action becomes even unexpected and unpredictable. You will not regret a single minute. However, I advise you to refrain from nervousness and children. From some scenes, the heart tears out.
