The green mile that breaks the heart


For me, there is no such Green Mile film, which would leave behind so strong, but different in polarity emotions.

On the one hand, it is impossible to deny that the film turned out to be a real masterpiece that causes the whole spectrum of feelings and makes you truly sympathize with all the characters.

At the same time, I have not wanted Green Mile for years and I am afraid to revise it, because feelings of complete spiritual devastation, terrible injustice and emotional shock that I, as a spectator, have experienced in 3 hours of viewing, sting and eat into the soul too deeply, and I to this not ready.

Plot

The story is told from the first person and thus immediately puts the viewer to empathy. The plot is built around the prison, which brings a new prisoner, sentenced to death for a terrible crime.

The time of the narrative is devoted to involving prison staff and the viewer in the process of understanding and accepting the destiny of this great man in every sense, as well as the fate of everyone who has even once faced it. The history of convicted people, at first glance, is trivial, but somehow reveals all human vices and sternly points to them through obvious, simple things.

Acting

All the actors involved in the history performed their games impeccably. Such a stunning success of the film, despite the lack of awards for the crew, is largely due to the piercing play of Tom Hanks, Michael Clark Duncan, David Morse, James Cromwell and Michael Jeter, whose character story casts the viewer from extreme to extreme all the screen time. However, the whole film is based on feelings and emotions, directly opposite to each other. In this, perhaps, lies the magic of this story.

Scrupulous attention to detail, the sharp relevance of each scene for revealing the plot, balancing on the brink of humor and grief, admiration and hatred, kindness and human anger.

No other film does not treat the viewer so cruelly and peremptorily, but at the same time, the Green Mile is definitely one of the best films in my life.
