When nuances play their part ...
The film has become legendary; a story that has conquered millions; The fate of women, causing compassion, mixed with envy - all this is said about the movie "Gone With the Wind." Scarlett O`Hara is turning before our eyes from a young girl into a mature woman who clearly knows what she wants and “will not stand for the price”. There is no doubt that this girl has gone through a lot in her life - war, hardship, hunger, loss, and deserves sympathy. But, personally from me, she did not receive sympathy ... Too impartial and "inhuman" she appears before us. But many tend to be like her! She turns people, pursuing her own interests, she leads away other suitors, regardless of the feelings of others, she is not able to appreciate what she has, she does not realize what she is doing. From this, and before the viewer, a story revolts, full of egoism, cynicism and envy. But, such it was created by Margaret Mitchell, the authors of the film also represent her. And this is more likely to be a plus than a minus.
Vivian Lee - a beautiful reflection prescribed by the novel Miss O`Hara. The perfect hit in appearance, character. Before us is the very Scarlett and hardly anyone can imagine her now differently in his imagination. Ratt Butler, performed by Clark Geible, has become a real symbol of male power. And, again, an accurate shot at the target when choosing an actor for the main male role. Especially liked the actress who played Melanie - from the first appearance on the screen that tenderness, kindness, innocence, and naivety emanate from her. Her smile is sincere and encouraging. This is the exact opposite of Scarlett. Yes, and much in the film appears as a contrast. Heroes, slaves - the masters, war-peace, poverty-well-being. There is a place for everything.
In truth, in spite of the masterpiece of the painting, there remains a lack of understanding! How could such an inaccuracy be allowed as the number of children of the main character? Same not minor things which can be lowered. In the book - 3 children, in the film - 1. It offends and revolts.
Also, through the whole book is a game of color. Green is just everywhere, it becomes a kind of hero of the book: Scarlett’s eyes are mentioned so many times that you can lose the count, the color of her many dresses and accessories. This is the greatest emphasis in the book. In the film, this is somehow past the course, no comments, notes. Not good!
However, summing up, for 1939 "Gone With the Wind" became a breakthrough. One of the first color films fell in love immediately with the viewer. Without incredible special effects, the film found its audience. And this is something worth it!
