Grand. Exciting. Awesome And a very long time, of course, as without it. "Cloud Atlas" is a spectacle for which it is impossible to be ready, an epic with a long breath. In this case, all six storylines, united only by a single, not the most original idea, and a dozen fancifully made-up actors, are easily kept in my head. And after watching, there is a feeling that he has just touched something grand - though not particularly new and deep.



Alas, it is. The Cloud Atlas is rather well-made than well-conceived - somewhere I have already met the authoritative opinion that David Mitchell's novel is the weakest link in a magnificent production. I did not read the novel, but I think I will agree - the plot sometimes seems to be insufficiently elaborated and strong compared to everything else. At the same time, only the right things are said: our destiny is not only our short life, it is also the past and the future. In short, "everything is interconnected."

It is impossible not to note how well and efficiently the Cloud Atlas is made. They took it for little money, if we talk about the measurements of Hollywood blockbusters. But it looks no worse than each of them. The worlds of the past, present, and future look just awesome. By the way, it seems to me, without any special effects even (except for the short story about biorobots).



Another really impressive moment is the reincarnation of the actors. The Cloud Atlas has brought together a real dream team, but the main role is still played by Tom Hanks, Hugo Weaving and Halle Berry. Moreover, it is especially pleasant to see Weaving - he rarely acts in films, unfortunately. Worthy competition for the main characters is the talented youth - Jim Sturgess (I remember him for “One Day”) and Ben Wishaw (wonderful Q from Skyfall).

Finally, it should be noted with admiration wonderful soundtrack. One of the novels of “Cloud Atlas” is devoted to music, and even the whole symphony appears in it, but the music for the film is richer, stronger and brighter than any symphony to me. Perhaps it was for me a huge part of the pleasure of this picture. Which, as it seems to me, everyone is simply obliged to see - maybe not for the sake of her morality, but for the spectacle that she is.
