The "Green Mile" is rightfully considered one of the best films of the world cinema. This is a real masterpiece, incorporating all the best from the eponymous work of Stephen King and complemented by a magnificent production and a wonderful game of actors.

With the novel of King I got acquainted after watching the film - so strong was the desire after viewing to penetrate this story to the full. But I would like to evaluate this film from the position of the person who read the book. I think it will be more correct to take it exactly as a film adaptation, because it is very close to the original, and most of the deviations were dictated by the need to shorten the already considerable timekeeping. In general, these deviations are insignificant and do not distort the perception of the plot created by King. Dialogues, entourage and, of course, the characters of the novel were very carefully, recreated in detail in the film. And this, without a doubt, is his main virtue.

In the center of the story, Paul Edgecomb is the head of the suicide bomber - and a few more prison guards. They work with those whose days are numbered, and spend them on the last journey along the Green Mile. Their habitual way of life changes with the advent of the "mile" of the black giant John Coffey, endowed with God's gift of healing. But can this killer possess the gift? This question torments the protagonist and, the more he learns about his new ward, the more responsibility falls on his shoulders. He and his friends have to look inside themselves and share the feelings of a person who feels pain for all the injustice and cruelty of this world.

"Green Mile" is a very versatile work. It is about honor and meanness, about nobility and cowardice, about humanity and cruelty, about the hard choice and about the fact that each of us will sooner or later have to go through our Green Mile.
