'I will never watch this again...'

.."that's what my brother said when I asked him if he'd seen the Green mile. To my puzzled ' Why?'he said that he didn't want to cry like that anymore, that he cried even more than over 'Hachiko'. BAA, what can bring to tears an adult guy, and even stronger than the 'Hachiko'? And I decided I needed to see it, too.

Here it is worth clarifying that at that time I had just started reading king's work of the same name. And at first the reading did not go well, but after such an interesting conversation, it went faster and ended in the middle of the night with tears and loud sobs. To say that the book impressed me is to say nothing. Finally, it was the movie's turn.

I will immediately note that the picture is not at all inferior in quality to a literary work. But it often happens that you have read a book, and certain images of characters have formed in your head. Suddenly you decide to watch a movie based on this very book, and then you are disappointed: and half of the plot was cut, and the characters you did not imagine (I experienced something similar when watching 'War and peace' in 2007, 'Anna Karenina' with keira Knightley, 'the Shining' by the same king).

In the case of the Green mile, the opposite is true. The actors are not chosen well, they are chosen perfectly. John Coffey-well, there can be no complaints in principle. Paul was just what I'd imagined. The actor who played the role of Percy, from the first minutes causes delight. The beast, Delacroix, the janitor (I forgot the name, they always rehearsed executions with him), in General, all the characters, from the main to secondary, were successful. In the plot, the creators of the film also, in my opinion, did not miss anything. Oh Yes, it is also worth noting the camerawork - the film really turned out to be beautiful, despite the cruelty that is reflected in it.

I have a small misdemeanor-I deliberately skipped a few minutes of the movie. For it was more than enough that I had read of the sad fate of the little Frenchman. See it firsthand? Yeah, guys, I got cold feet.

As expected, the last 20 minutes of the film were accompanied by convulsive sobs. And here is the paradox: it seems that everything did not end as well as you would like, but after you do not feel heavy on your soul. On the contrary, some bright feeling settles inside you... Relief or hope... Call it what you want, but it is very unusual, because it seems that you should feel sorry for the characters. But is there a different ending to this story?

When I found 'the Green mile' in the second position in the Top 250 of Kinopoisk, I was not even surprised. All I have to do now is watch the creation that beat the 'Mile' in this ranking. While I 'Escape from Shawshank' know only on paper. I won't lie - the Green mile impressed me more.

It only remains to add that, unlike my brother, I think I will reconsider the 'Green mile'. And probably more than once.
